Anti-Racism Resources In The Doula and Birth Space

As a doula, antiracism work is vital. It is vital for the life and safety of people giving birth in the United States. If you are not already learning and growing in this area please start today. I’ve talked through a few resources I recommend here in this episode, but I’d love to hear your resources as well!

Quote from the show:

“I want to talk a little bit today about equity and antiracism and maternal mortality issues. I'm recording this in mid-November. In the US, we just reelected President Trump, which has some very negative implications for people of color, for people of reproductive age, and for our country, I would say, for all of us, but especially for particularly marginalized communities. For queer folks, for Latino folks, for refugees, for immigrants. I want to talk a little bit about this because that's not what this podcast is about. The podcast is not about political stuff, but birth is political. If you think birth is not political, I'd respectfully say you're wrong. I mean, I, at this point, I'm like, no. This is definitely a political space that we live in. Anything that is directly touched by the finger of white supremacy is a political space and I would say that is all of life in the United States and birth is no different. ”
